He then made a film about it! This is the first post of a nine-part series in which we will take a deep dive into the film and spotlight pioneers of the PA profession trailblazing new paths around the globe. In each post, we will cover one of the nine countries in detail, along with never before seen footage and compelling interviews provided especially for you by the filmmaker. Why Make a Film about PAs? Many outside the PA profession questioned Adam why he would invest time and money circumnavigating the globe, filming physician assistants. To which, he graciously replied: "Ibn Sina, one of the greatest Medieval physicians, said, Width of life is more important than the length of life, a sentiment shared by one of India's greatest founding politicians, B.R. Ambedkar: Life should be great rather than long. Taken superficially, this is a clich a travel agent might pitch but more boldly calls us to devote ourselves to what we believe in with no hope of recognition or return on our investment." Physician Assistant Number 180 Though very well-paid now, Dick Halbur, the filmmaker's father, began his career as an early physician assistant (PA #180 in Wisconsin to be exact). As a PA pioneer, Dick wholeheartedly devoted himself to the PA profession despite being overworked, underpaid, and his new profession tottering on the verge of collapse for over a decade. But his father, a farmer's son, understood the meaning of hard work and enjoyed chewing the fat (conversing) with the rural folk he treated. He enjoyed addressing their needs and gaining their confidence. Also, like many PAs who followed in his footsteps, Dick didn't always know that he wanted to be a physician assistant. Adam, the filmmaker, came to know some of his dad's patients in person and by word of mouth and so developed his own devotion to the story. This is best illustrated in a poem Adam published over a decade ago that demonstrates medicine's influence in his writing: Like the Earth, the heart is a Badlands. There's really no love, as they say there is, just a quiet between the systolic push of red along channels of the chest: An evening thunderstorm, let's say, lightning, a rush of muddy waters trenching the canyon walls and a clearing where a coyote places constellations of river stones in the sky. "I truly believe that the PAs I met along the way have been given the opportunity of great lives, and I thank them for allowing this lone coyote an attempt, in the very least, of placing their story amidst the stars." - Adam Halbur, documentary filmmaker (seen here in the white shirt) A Preview of What's to Come in This Blog Series PAs In The United Kingdom Watkins is one of six original PAs to graduate from one of three pilot programs in the UK, namely St. Georges, which she then joined as staff in 2008: Why We Really Need PAs in The UK: The British Physician Associate PAs In The Netherlands The Netherlands is one country in which the PA has been implemented not merely on a trial basis but as a long-term government solution to rising healthcare demands and costs. It is also a country where everyone is covered by the national healthcare plan regardless of income. PAs in the Netherlands: The Dutch Physician Assistant PAs In India During filming in 2017, there were no PA programs or PAs practicing in northern and northeastern parts of India. The government is slow to hire PAs, and without avenues of career advancement or a standard of living comparable with western counterparts, eventually, most PAs migrate to other industries or abroad. And many more countries will be covered as part of this series! Research Paper on Snowboarding Snowboarding is a relatively new winter sport, at least in comparison to skiing that has evolved from the activity done by northern peoples for thousands of years. It, however, grows even more popular and is very likely to become more wide-spread than its natural predecessor, skiing. Nevertheless, it is somewhat less accessible, for in order to truly see and feel what it is to be snowboarding, one has to go to the mountains, while skiing can be done on the flat surface as well. The first snowboard was created in 1964 by Shervin Popper, who was inspired by seeing his daughter trying to slide down the hill while standing on a sled. He made a crude construction of two pairs of skis, gave it to her daughter, and after a demonstration all the local children wanted to have something of this kind as well. The first snowboard ever was a tremendous success in that neighborhood. In the course of the following decades a number of different people who had nothing to do with each other started to produce similar contrivances, sometimes on a mass scale. Still, it wasn’t until the early eighties, when the snowboard started to make appearances in a number of sports’ magazines and on TV in the USA and Canada. Writing News Useful Software for Writers

Software and writing don’t easily go hand in hand in popular belief. In fact, it would probably be news for most people to find out that there are a lot of programs that can relieve writers of all kinds of problems if they find them and learn how to use them. Here is a short enumeration of different programs that may turn out useful for a writer, fiction or nonfiction one. Let’s take a look. Whitesmoke is an English Grammar checker with great functionality: it works wherever you write, be it Microsoft Word, a mail agent or a box in the Internet, it checks your mail before you post it, and does a lot of other things. If you are not very good with grammar, you will certainly make good use of it. Attachà © software is created for non-fiction writers – it is a great help in organizing information, arranging all your preliminary notes, ideas, drafts and so on in an orderly manner. Storybase, on the contrary, positions itself as â€Å"the ultimate software for fiction writers†. It allows you to enter a few prompts concerning their characters and their actions and receive lots and lots of suggestions: how they would behave, what their relationships with each other will be and so on. The only possible drawback is that Storybase almost entirely deals with emotions of the characters – if it is what your novel is about, go ahead and use it. Another program for writers is Newnovelist – it helps you organize your thoughts and ideas, allowing you to write down fragments of your novel as they come to your head so that it is easy to rearrange them later. Another similar program is Writer’s Blocks – it will certainly be good news for any prospective writer who has problems with putting his thoughts and ideas in order. It allows you to create â€Å"blocks† of information – for example, when you come up with a great idea but cannot attach it to the text you have already written. You can, of course, simply jot it down – but you are likely to lose it that way. Writer’s Blocks allows you to keep track of what your write. Muse Names. How often have you seen a person in a work of fiction clearly belonging to a certain ethnicity but having a name that either has nothing to do with it or doesn’t exist at all? If you want to avoid similar embarrassments in your own work, use Muse Names – it easily allows you to find culturally correct names. Finally, indexing software, like Macrex, Cindex or Sky Index is a great help for those who need to compile an index. They do not automatically turn you into an expert in this field, but they can certainly help in understanding the principles.

How does it feel like to be a problem? Many would answer this question in different ways. Everyone has experienced â€Å"being the problem† in different ways. However, in terms of race, the answer to this question was similar among most African Americans. Living like they are a problem, consists of a majority of their lives. Different documents ranging from 1903 to our present day in 2015 mirror this same ideology. People such as W.E.B DuBois, Anne Moody, Martin Luther King Jr., and Barack Obama, expressed the same concern. Many people in our society, past and present, see being African American as a sign of inferiority. Race shouldn’t be the distinguishing factor between people. Moody, King, Obama, and DuBois all show that the fixation on race was a debilitating problem and appealed to their audiences for action to break free of these prejudices by trying to identify the problems and recommending courses of action. In his book, Souls of Black Folk, W.E.B. DuBois identifies the challenge that an African American would face living in the United States. Early on in his book, he relates how as a young child, he came to the realization that he was different. Yet instead of sitting back and abiding to the waves and flow of society’s ideology, he decided that he would empower himself. He decided that he would acquire a proper education. It would be easy to overlook the third smallest country in the world as a frivolous waste of time. Nothing could be further from the truth in regards to the island of Nauru. It is a multifarious nation described as almost a topographical micro slice of paradise. The Nauruan people have formed a democratic republic with a constitution safeguarding liberties and ensuring prosperity. At least this is according to the Nauru websites available to the public. Countries often present themselves as a glossy postcard picture on the outside. This picture does not always match the reality of what is on the inside. It also includes provisions for freedom from torture, forced labor, deprivation of property, and freedom from intentionally having someone deprive you of your life (RON, 2012). These indications point to a govern ment based on very American like democratic values. This leaves the actual attraction of the island in terms of the tourist trade to reconnoiter. The Nauru tourism board focuses on attracting tourist with appeals such as â€Å"deep sea fishing, scuba dive amazing ocean depths, take a tour of the island’s past economic mainstay the phosphate mines or simply experience a holiday in a world far from your own†¦ game fishing for tuna, marlin, skipjack, barracuda and many more† (Nauru Tourism, 2011, p.1). It advertised the Phosphate mines as having created a â€Å"unique moonscape made up of limestone pinnacles† (Nauru Tourism, 2011, p.2). The complement to all this tropical vacation nirvana of course is a friendly native population. Native Nauruan’s are supposed to be â€Å"A quiet and peaceful people†¦welcoming and hospitable to the few travelers who venture to their tiny island† (Nauru Tourism, 2011, p.3). All the initial signs point to Nauru being not only a fantastic isolated vacation location, but they also have the benefit of an American-British like government. This is exactl y what Nauru wants the world to see. What follows is the reality of Nauru’s environmental, political, and economic, circumstances.

It steers clear of any other historical issues regarding the article but focuses on the content, context and stylistic features of an article that integrate to piece up the whole literature.The examples given by Rude are quite understandable. The theoretical problems are debatable problems hence their reports contain pros and cons of the matter being discussed. Empirical problems are factual in nature and are based on tests and observations made, thus, their reports give the observations and facts found. On the other hand, practical problems are those that require a choice to be made; hence, their reports give a course of action.Rude feels like rhetoric is important in decision making because it assists in breaking down the findings of a report. Rhetoric assists in ascertaining the facts and displaying the effects of the said facts in a report hence its importance. According to Frances (89), the use of rhetoric as a style can be perfect in the writing of decision-making reports.From this article, I have learned that the kind of report I write will be subject to the nature of the problem at hand. This means that decision-making depends on the issue at hand. Fictional fantasy Essay The declaration ‘i got you’ creates an unappreciative tone and an air of resentment. However Steinbeck has represented an ambiguous relationship to indicate George’s personal needs for having Lennie as company. This becomes evident when George tries to persuade Lennie to stay by saying â€Å"no-look! I was jus’ foolin’ causi want you to stay with me†. Through George’s plea desperation is heard in his voice due to the fear of complete loneliness. The exclamation mark after â€Å"no –look!† may indicate the raising of his voice at the realisation of the important impact Lennie has in his life. This is the impact that has kept George and Lennie together not the promise to Lennie’s ‘Aunt Clara’. Although George acts as a father figure to Lennie to depict Lennie’s needs in reality it is to shadow his ‘want’ and personal needs for Lennie. The ‘want’ is due to George knowing that if he gave Lennie up it would only increase in his loneliness and the fragment of hope that leads him to believe he can achieve the American dream would vanish. As Steinbeck has introduced Curly’s wifewithout a name yet every other character in the book including Crooks, a black man who is isolated from all the other men owns a name. His intentions by doing this are to reflect the status of women in the 1930s and to depict the treatment of her husband towards her. During this time women were seen as possessions and owned by their husbands. As a result of women relying on their husbands for provisions it allowed men to have a stronger hold of them. This is shown when Curly finds his wife dead, at the mention of staying with her to mourn her death ‘his face reddened’ and he said â€Å"I’m goin†. His reasons for leaving her is not because he wants to take revenge for her death but because he’s still trying to highlight his masculinity, this is interpreted as Curly uses the repetition of the word ‘big’ when describing Lennie to indicate that the killing of Lennie would only boost his self-image. Steinbeck has done this to demonstrate her loneliness even after her death and to confirm the deficient relationship between curly and his wife. This emphasises to the reader that women did not have any status to such a degree that they were treated like cattle since they were used for the personal needs of men. The demise of Curly’s wife symbolises the death of her dreams. As a result of this the affirmation that the American dream was that of a fictional fantasy and that the people during this era made up fantasies to present themselves with hope. Although her dream is now dead Steinbeck has shown the reader that the death has relieved her of an existence full of distress and loneliness. ‘The meanness andthe plannings and the discontent and the ache for attention were all gone fromher face.’ Depicts this new found freedom. Steinbeck has used the rule of three with the words ‘meanness’ ‘plannings’ and ‘discontent’. He has assigned her these qualities to cover up her suffering and isolation. Likewise Lennie’s death also illustrates the death of a dream and emphasises the fantasy of the dream. But unlike curlys wife George is not set free from a burden but has become trapped in the world of a typical ranch worker.
